A speed paint I did for a challenge over at Pixelbrush.net. The theme was Masquerade. I've always thought that it's a bit odd that when we draw peacocks we associate them with beautiful women... when the male birds are really the beautiful ones. So this was my attempt at making a masculine peacock mask design.
How'd I do?
Around two hours in Painter... mostly fiddling with making new brushes and playing with the impasto effects. This is, admittedly sloppier than I usually paint. It makes a lovely effect but I'm not sure if I could do paintings like this all the time. I keep wanting to refine them further.
Huh...You make a great point about the male bird thing. It's so true! It is funny we always make women the pretty birds instead. And I would say you did an excellent job making a male peacock mask. He exudes both 'dangerous' and 'sexy'. If I bumped into him at a masquerade ball I would probably shiver then laugh nervously, while silently being thankful that my mask is covering my red face...

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
