A speed paint I did for a challenge over at Pixelbrush.net. The theme was Masquerade. I've always thought that it's a bit odd that when we draw peacocks we associate them with beautiful women... when the male birds are really the beautiful ones. So this was my attempt at making a masculine peacock mask design.

How'd I do?

Around two hours in Painter... mostly fiddling with making new brushes and playing with the impasto effects. This is, admittedly sloppier than I usually paint. It makes a lovely effect but I'm not sure if I could do paintings like this all the time. I keep wanting to refine them further.

Do NOT buy prints from DA. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!
Huh...You make a great point about the male bird thing. It's so true! It is funny we always make women the pretty birds instead. And I would say you did an excellent job making a male peacock mask. He exudes both 'dangerous' and 'sexy'. If I bumped into him at a masquerade ball I would probably shiver then laugh nervously, while silently being thankful that my mask is covering my red face...
Gorgeous! You did an awesome job and yes you pulled it off :)
 That is fantastic for a speed painting!

You sure have a soft spot for birds, don't you? ^^

Gorgeous work!
I think you did an exceptional job at capturing the masculinity(sp?) and the colors are just fabulous.
