Artist's Comments

Okay, I should TOTALLY be packing. I move in less than four days. wait... three days. *sigh*

But sometimes you get an idea, and you sit down and then you just get swallowed by it. Hence, this painting. When I get to crossroads in my life, for some reason I find myself turning back to Labyrinth. It's my way of centering myself, and it's cheaper than therapy.

This image is based on a fanfic I'm working on. No references were used (and I'm a little proud of that... and scared. There's something a little strange about being able to paint Jareth utterly from memory). The color scheme is very deliberately sort of gothic/film noir and there's some important stuff going on with the composition and posing.

I do have to say, I think this is one of my favorite Labyrinth paintings so far. It came out very different than I thought it would, but I really, really like it.

Labyrinth, Jareth, Sarah etc are (c) Jim Henson, David Bowie, Brian Froud and whoever else owns those particular rights.

PLEASE, no copying, no avatars, do not upload to your myspace or photobucket accounts, no use without talking to me first

As soon as I saw the title I squeed. I love the detail in his hair and the evil look in his eyes. The black and white colour scheme is neat too.

Aaaaand the fanfic? You are going to share that with us, aren't you? this ROCKS. While, yes, it could be a little scary that you can paint him from memory, I just attribute it to your (demonstrably) amazing talent with portraits. :)

Look at what happens when we actually get the ARTIST in on this.

Wow. This is striking and just plain brilliant. I can't wait till you start on your fanfic, if this is just a small taste of it. The play of light contrast is really fun in this, and I love the expressions.

Although, I have to agree, it is somewhat scary that you were able to draw Jareth without reference. *laughs*

Great image. And good luck with moving. Change is always difficult, especially when it involves boxes and packing tape. I hope everything goes well.

I squealed like the fangirl I am the moment I saw this pic. It's so full of win that if I could squeeze the life out of you with a hug, I would. Oh! And the lack of sparklies and glitter makes Jareth just that much hotter. Thank you!

You wouldn't be too angry with me if I just fav'd and ran with it, would you? :XD:

This picture looks like you had to of spent dozens of hours on it. The hair looks spectacular.

Maybe five or six hours? I sketched it last night but did the bulk of the painting on it this evening.
