My humble submission for the Sweeney Todd Poster Contest.
I'm a long time fan of the musical, (I did a huge project on it for school some twelve years ago, and performed "A little priest" rather badly in drama class, along with a friend). I'm also a Tim Burton fan, and a Johnny Depp fan, and a Helena Bonham Carter fan... so the movie was sort of like a dream team come true. Participating in the contest seemed like a foregone conclusion.
I thought about painting this from scratch, which some of you might think is my only talent . But it IS a movie poster, and while a painted poster would be different, I didn't think it was appropriate.
Done in Adobe Photoshop CS2. All images are from the approved contest zip file. I somewhat recreated the logo: the logo was not included in the list of approved images, and I'd hate to be disqualified based on a technicality, so I stuck as close to it as I could... not having access to the official fonts, colors or vector files. I would think that it's possible they didn't want us to use it because they'd rather add it to whatever winning design gets published. That's fair enough. If (unlikely) mine were to win, I still have the .psd and can delete my logo version, if needed.
In my head, I called this poster "The Sharp Edge of Madness."
I think you're extremely talented, and love the manip work you've done here. The only problem I see is that, from afar, it looks like he has four arms . . .

Um, yum. Good photomanip! There's something really neat about reflections in bits of broken mirror.

Sweeeeet! I've got my eye on this contest too. I saw the musical just recently in San Francisco and was awed! I'm gonna paint mine from scratch though, to stand out from all the manips... *sneaky eyes* Good luck, though! I love the entry!
honestly... while the prizes are nice, I really just wanted to enter. I already have an iPod (and a iPod mini and an iPhone), and a 6x11" Wacom, so it wasn't really the prizes that inspired me so much as just the opportunity.
Lemme tell ya, I'm gonna come up against time issues too! So I'm working toward my strengths....THE FACE. And I've got a not-so-secret crush on the Deppmeister. Sad, I know!
