File is huge-ish. My apologies.

Anyway, I've been trying to help a couple of people with their paintings of men, lately, and I realized that while I'm not a leading expert on the subject of painting men, or anything, there don't seem to be any doing tutorials.

Most tutorials I've seen for painting things like eyes, lips, noses, etc, use female features. The result is that there are a lot of effeminate looking males in paintings out there and artists who are trying to figure out why.

This is basically a lot of the tip and tricks I use to get more masculine looking features on my guys. Please be aware, there are a LOT of different kinds of faces out there, and almost as many different ways of painting them. However, using some of these techniques on different kinds of faces will help add to the masculinity of the features.

Anyway, yes, this is downloadable for full view BUT:

DO NOT repost, reprint, reproduce etc. without my full written consent. You may link to it to your hearts content.

Why? you don't have to go to art school to learn how to draw. It helps speed up the process, I suppose, but it isn't a requirement.

Melissa, the shaded sphere of the skin-tones just flipped the "That makes so much sense" light switch in my brain. What's weird has always been that I've no trouble sorting them out with traditional media. Thanks for the epiphany.
