-The crow on the staff has the body structure of a songbird kinda!
-Arms a bit too short. Remember the fingertips should touch roughly mid uppder thigh!
-Chest muscles funny.
I like the changes - this version's a little more organic looking, less digital, and the birds and shadows have been retouched well - but particularly just that it's a bit bigger, so there's more clarity of detail ^-^
The shadow on the chest was good, I didn't realize it was missing, but it makes more visual sense with the lighting and the shadows on the neck now, and gives you more sense of the time of day, which contributes to the mood overall. I love your fey stuff...
More than one artist I respect pointed it out... and when they all pick up on something missing, I figure I probably ought to put it in.
And thank you, by the way, for NOT referring to him as an "elf." I get so sick of everyone assuming that because someone has pointed ears, they're elves. I have, to date, painted a total of two elves. And they are labeled as such.
The funny thing to me is that our most 'standard' fantasy interpretation of the concept of "Elves" is the product of a book written within the last century(even if it was a singularly marvelous book.) So when somebody does it, at least you can wishfully-think that they mean "elf" in the sense of the word it was a hundred years ago, when it was still a vague concept that might've meant anything from an odd person to the sidhe to little people to beings who make shoes or children's toys. ^-^
Aside from my optimism, however, I know how it feels, and more than once it's led me to a rapid deceleration of my skull against a hard surface...
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
