My version of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. Been working on this in my spare time over the last three days or so. I went about it a little different than I normally do, rendering it in grayscale before adding color. The costume is based loosely on one I designed for the play version of Alice several years ago.
I screencapped and time lapsed this painting and posted it over on YouTube. Check it out, rate it, leave me a comment if you like it!
I love the different approach you used in the character design! Lovely costume too! God, you are so creative! I think the grayscale thing looks very nice for this image, but I rather your other coloring method, the colors look more vivid in your other pics.

Yeah, that's how I feel. I like painting in color better because I think it does make the colors more vivid. For this one, though, it worked since I intended for her to be very desaturated but for the red and the flesh tones.
My next piece is full color. I think you'll like it a lot.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
